Community Land Management Plan - Former Paruna Golf Club

Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1999 s198.

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is seeking community feedback regarding the proposed Community Land Management Plan for Crown Record Volume 5755 Folio 640, formerly the Paruna Golf Course.

At its meeting held 21 August 2024, Council moved to adopt the draft Community Land Management Plan, which will allow the intended lessees to use the premises for business use.

Under section 198 of the Local Government Act 1999, Council is required to undertake public consultation prior to adopting an amended Community Land Management Plan.

Background

Previously the Paruna Golf Course was operated by a thriving club that utilised the existing clubrooms as a venue for the public to gather before or after a game of golf. Events and fundraisers were held on a regular basis and had the support of locals and visitors.

Currently the golf course is in bad shape after years of neglect and needs quite a bit of care and attention to restore it. The clubrooms are insured by the Council for demolition only however the intended occupants hope to restore the clubrooms to a usable condition.
