A regional Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie, Renmark Paringa Council and Berri Barmera Council have worked together to develop a joint Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (the Plan) for the Riverland region.

A draft plan has been formulated after consultation was facilitated by JFA Purple Orange. The consultation included face-to-face workshops with community members, staff and Elected Members, plus an online survey.

Councils are required by law to have a plan that sets out how they will make their communities more inclusive and accessible for people with disability.

By working together, we’re creating a united approach that reflects the needs of our whole region - not just individual council areas.

The Plan will help guide how we:

  • Make public spaces, buildings, and facilities easier for everyone to use
  • Provide clear and accessible information
  • Support participation in community life
  • Make are towns more inclusive and accessible for all walks of life
