Draft Licence and Community Land Management Plan - EV Chargers Loxton

Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1999 s198

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is seeking community feedback on a proposed dual port DC Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charger at the Loxton Sporting Precinct car park.

The project aims to enhance local EV infrastructure and support the growing number of EV drivers travelling through the region. If supported, it would deliver the fastest public chargers in the Riverland, capable of charging a standard 60kWh EV battery to 80% in around 20 minutes – or around 40 minutes when two vehicles are connected. This would mark a significant improvement compared with Loxton’s existing Tesla chargers, which in some cases require overnight parking to achieve a full charge.

To support the community’s transition to sustainable transport, reduce emissions, and provide valuable services to both residents and visitors, Council is proposing to enter into a licence agreement with My EV Australia, a Renmark-based company within the YES Group, to install and operate the chargers under a user-pay model. My EV Australia would fund, install and maintain the equipment, with future revenue shared between the company and Council. This model would ensure ongoing maintenance and sustainability while providing benefits to the community.

As part of the proposal, the existing Tesla chargers in East Terrace would be removed, consolidating all charging facilities at the new location for ease of access, and freeing up valuable parking spaces in the main street.

To facilitate the proposal, Council has prepared a draft Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) for Certificate of Title 6288 Folio 955, covering a portion of the Loxton Sporting Precinct. Under the Local Government Act 1999, all community land must be managed in accordance with a CLMP. The plan outlines how the land would be used, accessed and maintained in line with its purpose, classification and community expectations.
