Loxton Football Club & Sports Club Long Term Lease

Pursuant to Section 202 (2) of the Local Government Act 1999

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is seeking community feedback regarding a proposed 21-year ground lease agreement with the Loxton Football Sporting Club for a portion of land at the Loxton Sporting Complex.

At its meeting held Wednesday 17 April 2024, Council made the following motion:

18.1.3 Sporting and Recreation Facilities - Loxton Football and Sporting Club Lease

The Council have been in consultation with the Loxton Football and Sporting Club to facilitate the design of a new viewing pavilion at the Loxton Sporting Complex (see: site plan provided). Situated at 25 Bookpurnong Terrace, the Loxton Sporting Complex is a Council-owned asset and is classified as 'community land'. While Council endorsed a ground lease for the Football and Sporting Club at the April 2024 meeting, the Council is required under the Local Government Act 1999 s202(2) to undertake public consultation before granting a lease relating to community land.

The proposed lease agreement, spanning a 21-year term (with an additional 21-year renewal), will allow the Club to erect the viewing pavilion, which will be utilised mainly for the sale of food and beverages during game time, as well as for fundraising activities in support of the Loxton Football, Netball, Basketball and Cricket Clubs.
