“Pocket Galleries, tiny galleries for little artworks - with a big impact.” – Di Caught, The Colour Manifesto
Pocket Galleries are small, shoebox sized homes for artwork, designed to be established throughout communities to encourage local storytelling and artistic opportunities. After successful installations in City of Adelaide, City of West Torrens and City of Prospect, the District Council of Loxton Waikerie successfully launched the first regional pilot of Pocket Galleries in Loxton. Due to their success, six Pocket Galleries are now coming to Waikerie.
Pocket Galleries provide artists, schools, community and history groups with an opportunity to connect to the public day-to-day, or even with tourists as they explore the town. Planned to be installed from Waikerie Library and Visitor Information Centre, throughout McCoy Street and down to Waikerie Riverfront, the galleries encourage viewers to explore the township of Waikerie, enticing exploration and excitement surrounding the history of our district and the talented creatives that reside here.
