Background

Council is seeking community feedback on proposed road network changes that would allow Road Trains operating under the Heavy Mass Limit (HML) scheme to use specific local roads.

These changes aim to support local industry and improve freight efficiency while ensuring safety and minimal community impact.

Proposed 30m Road Train HML Gazettal

  1. Council is considering the gazettal of 580 metres of Railway Terrace, and 145 metres of Schubert Road in Paruna.
  2. Taplan Road, Badcoe Road and Kokoda Terrace (from Taplan to Bookpurnong Terrace, Loxton) are also proposed to be gazetted.

This would allow current 30-metre Road Trains operating under the HML scheme to access these sections without the need to seek permits for use, potentially improving freight access for agricultural and industrial operations. These roads are important links for commodity transport between rural areas and major freight routes.

We encourage all community members, road users, and stakeholders to review the proposal (displayed on the map below) and indicate your level of support using the feedback form on this page.

Consultation will take place from Wednesday 21 May and Wednesday 11 June 2025.

Your feedback will help inform Council's final decision on these proposed road changes.
