Public Consultation

Waikerie Football and Sporting Club Long Term Lease

Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1999 s202(2).

The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is seeking community feedback on a proposed 21-year ground lease agreement with the Waikerie Football and Sporting Club for a portion of the Waikerie Oval.

The Council has been collaborating with the Waikerie Football and Sporting Club to facilitate the design and construction of the new Waikerie Riverfront Community Hub, located at Lot 12 Peake Terrace, Waikerie.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1999, Section 202(2), the Council is required to conduct public consultation before granting a lease on community land. Additionally, the proposed lease's business use and its length—a 21-year term with an option for a 21-year renewal—represent further requirements for public consultation.

The proposed lease will enable the club to use the area primarily for practices and events, including training sessions, matches, social gatherings, and other functions. It will support activities such as the provision of food, beverages, entertainment, venue rental, and other commercial activities typical of a hospitality venue of this size and location.
